My Visual Studio Blog has RTW'd

Posted on August 12, 2008 09:56 by Lars

Hi. So here's my inaugural post on my brand new blog about Visual Studio. I've been a multi-year procrastinator with respect to this whole blog thing, but here I am...

First, the obligatory introductions. My name is Lars Powers, and I am a Technical Evangelist with Microsoft. I've been here about 5 years now, starting first with Microsoft Consulting Services and then joining the Developer and Platform Evangelism group about 3 years ago.

I'm actually *not* an official Visual Studio evangelist (like Brian Keller), but I am a Visual Studio devotee. I use the IDE daily, I absolutely love the capabilities for dev teams that are delivered with Visual Studio Team System, and this tool just never fails to amaze me with respect to how productive you can be crafting solutions.

A few years ago, I wrote a book on Visual Studio 2005 which was recently refreshed to cover all of the new ground present with Visual Studio 2008 ( I co-authored both books with Mike Snell. The IDE has become so big and so vast in terms of features and capabilities (especially if you consider all of the moving parts with Visual Studio Team System), that Mike and I felt as if a blog was the perfect medium to continue the Visual Studio conversation outside of our book.

    And so here we are.

    Good things to come...
